Why Is Teaching Phonological Awareness Skills So Important?

If you are not familiar with the IMSE, I encourage you to research this amazing organization! My most valuable training in my career as a reading specialist was my Orton Gillingham training. Last week, I had the privilege to attend a Literacy Summit and hear Maryanne Wolf, who spoke about the reading brain. Maryanne gave such insight and has such wisdom, I highly recommend reading any of the books she has written. She spoke at great length about the reading brain and phonological awareness skills.
